Our Featured Composer

Overture Music Publications is pleased and excited to bring you the most recent compositions of Ronald McAnespie.  We strongly believe you will find his work exceptional and inspiring, not only to you, but to your musicians and audience.

Ron has loved music his entire life.  He began his career in musical composition at the tender age of 16 by entering and winning a contest to write his high school song which is played and sung at pep rallies and assemblies to this day.

Ronald McAnespie

After high school, Ron served as a bandsman in the Royal Canadian Navy, showing his proficiency with clarinet, flute, and tenor and alto saxophone.  His musical ability in both playing and composing is consummate.  He understands musical composition from every artistic point of view.

After the Navy, Ron was awarded the Quincy Jones Scholarship to the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, graduating with honors.

Throughout his musical career, Ron's first love has always been composing, and in 1967, he entered a competition to write the official march marking Canada's centennial.  It won first place and McAnespie was awarded the Grand Prize.  The march, "Century of Progress" was published by Boosey and Hawkes in London, England and subsequently recorded by thirteen military and concert bands around the world.

Ron is currently a proud member of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, a highly respected veteran's organization.  He composed a march to commemorate the group's 75th anniversary and was then awarded its highest honor, the Distinguished Service Medal.

Whether performing in the musical arena or serving in the Commissionaires, Ron's personal integrity, attention to detail, and dedication to high standards have earned him praise and admiration among his fellow musicians and composers.

Today, Ron arises every morning at 4:00 a.m. to work on his musical compositions.  Most people would agree that this alone shows an exceptional commitment to his craft.  However, the product he has given us as a result of this passionate dedication is what Overture Music Publications finds so exciting.  We strongly believe you will agree with us when you see and hear the wonderful new work Ronald McAnespie now offers.

Contact us today!  We know you'll be as excited as we are!
